Dog lovers and people lovers unite! Kiernan’s Kindness, a non-profit corporation dedicated to training and deploying therapy dog teams, announces a Kiernan’s Kindness Kickoff event, Sunday, October 21st at the Tucson Jewish Community Center Sculpture Garden, 3800 East River Road, Tucson, 85718, from 3:00-5:00 pm. The public is invited to this event at no charge. The president of Kiernan’s Kindness, Jeremy Brown, will be available to meet all who have questions, would like volunteer for the organization, or to help in any way. Refreshments and goodie bags will be available for humans and dogs alike. This event is free.
Therapy dog teams consist of a dog and its owner/trainer. Well-mannered, well-behaved dogs who enjoy meeting people are professionally trained with their handlers to exemplify kindness, acceptance, teamwork, and courage as living values and practices in the lives of others. Dog teams provide comfort and emotional support to students in schools, survivors of abuse, survivors of national disasters, patients in hospitals, and a welcome relief to all in stressful situations in which interaction with a loving dog can be helpful. Kiernan’s Kindness now provides dog teams to schools, hospitals, and assisted living facilities, and looks to vastly expand their presence to new locations and populations.
Kiernan’s Kindness is named in memory of Kiernan Blaker, a close friend of Jeremy Brown, who truly cared about everyone and everything more than herself. According to Jeremy, “She was that bright spot in the room; a person with a passion for everything she did. We lost her at a very young age unexpectedly, and our mission is to help teach others to be kind, have acceptance of others, and always smile just like Kiernan did. Animals and children had a very special place in her heart and at this time in the world there is no better mission to spread, and to do so in a loving person’s name.”
Jeremy Brown, president of Kiernan’s Kindness, is the owner of The Complete Canine, a training facility for dogs and their owners specializing in training through socialization and positive reinforcement. Their curriculum includes puppy, beginner, intermediate, advanced, agility, Come When Called, and AKC Canine Good Citizen training, as well as Therapy Dog Training. Jeremy Brown was recently voted a “Favorite Trainer in Tucson” in the Tucson Weekly’s annual survey.
